So I get a thick border round the image but the entire screen space is available for program windows. When I plug my laptop into my telly via HDMI the desktop fills the entire screen but the background image isn't stretched to fill it as it is on the laptop screen itself. What I'm not sure about is whether you mean there is a border round any desktop background image and you can move program windows around the entire screen or whether the desktop itself is surrounded by the border and you cannot move program windows into the border area. Has anyone got any idea what the issue is here?Ĭould this be because the laptop is not in full screen mode, meaning tabs and task bar are on show, would placing the laptop in full screen mode work? I've tried all the different settings from various display/resolution menus and have not found a solution. The laptop has a AMD radeon 7340 graphics card, the laptop has no problem running 1080p. The only resolution setting that fits the screen is 1280x768. They have connected their laptop to their new TV (Full HD) via HDMI, set the screen resolution to 1920x1080 as recommended but it's not displaying a full screen, there's about an inch boarder all round.
